On Wednesday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia reacted to the exercises "Caucasian Eagle - 2022" held in Georgia.

“On October 11, at the Mukhrovani military base near Tbilisi, the joint field tactical exercises “Caucasian Eagle-2022” of the special operations forces of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey started. The purpose of the exercises is "synchronization of capabilities and improvement of coordination, command and control" by the military personnel of the three countries," the official commentary of the Foreign Ministry says.

The Ministry has reminded that earlier on October 7, Georgia signed an agreement with Turkey on the supply of NATO-style armored personnel carriers to the Georgian side.

“In South Ossetia, the ongoing process of building up and modernizing the military-industrial potential of Georgia causes serious concern. In the context of official Tbilisi's refusal of obligations on the non-use of force, holding military exercises in the immediate vicinity of the borders of South Ossetia is a factor that could lead to a destabilization of the situation and an increase in military-political tension in the South Caucasus,” the Foreign Ministry has noted.

They added that in the conditions of the current turbulence in the world, the Georgian authorities should be aware that their enthusiasm for regular military exercises with the participation of foreign troops undermines all efforts to ensure regional security.
