On the occasion of the Day of Courage and National Unity - November 23, a number of events will be held in South Ossetia.
As IA “Res” has been informed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic, on November 21, a book and illustration exhibition will be opened in the Republican Youth Library.
“A cycle of events is planned for the next day: a children's drawing competition, an expressive reading contest, a meeting of library readers with participants in the events of November 23, 1989,” the agency's interlocutor said.
The Ministry has noted that on November 22, a round table will be held in the conference hall of the Anacharsis Republican Library on the topic: “The beginning of the national liberation movement in South Ossetia.
“On the same day at 18.30 at the Kosta Khetagurov State Drama Theater, the tragedy “The Last Witness” will be performed,” she said.
According to the interlocutor, on November 23, a concert of a patriotic song dedicated to the Day of Courage and National Unity will be organized at the State Drama Theater of the Republic.
“Admission is free,” the Ministry of Culture clarified.
On November 23, South Ossetia will mark the 33rd anniversary of the beginning of the struggle for independence. Then in 1989, a small group of young patriots of South Ossetia blocked the way for thousands of armed Georgian nationalists. Thanks to the courage of the South Ossetian defenders, the enemy was unable to break through to Tskhinval.
In honor of their feat, November 23 became known as the Day of Courage and National Unity and is a day off.
