South Ossetia paid last tributes to the volunteer Ivan Elbakiev, perished heroically during a special military operation in Ukraine.
Condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased were expressed by Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Interior Minister Valery Gazzaev and other officials, the staff of the Defense Ministry, colleagues and friends of the deceased.
Many kind words were said about Ivan Elbakiev, his personality, work activity and achievements in the service.
"A grave tragedy has touched the Elbakiev family. At the age of 29, the life of Ivan Elbakiev was cut short.
Fascism does not sleep and the need to eradicate it at its source is understood by all the guys who stood guard over the defense of the Motherland. Unfortunately, the war does not spare anyone and there are many perished throughout Russia. But for our small nation, each loss is a huge tragedy," it was said at the funeral rally.
Colleagues who were fighting side by side at the front have told about his service and participation in the special military operation.
On September 25, together with the group, he went on combat missions, the group was ambushed, all this time there was no news about Ivan. Ivan Elbakiev was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. By the decree of the President of South Ossetia dated November 18, he was awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland".
