The Day of Courage and National Unity on November 23 this year will be marked by a traditional rally at the monument on the outskirts of Tskhinval and the laying of wreaths. 33 years have passed since then. This day to the calendar of memorable dates is declared a day off.
On Monday, the State Commission for the Organization of Holidays and Commemorative Dates determined the measures for holding the Day of Courage and National Unity in the Republic.
On the morning of November 23, the government members headed by the President will lay flowers at the cemetery in the courtyard of the Tskhinval School No. 5, where the first victims of the Georgian aggression are buried. At 11:30 a.m., a rally will begin at the entrance to Tskhinval, where will being remembered the names and heroism of those ordinary Tskhinval guys who became a “human shield” and blocked the path of a motorcade with Georgian informals who tried to enter Tskhinval under the pretext of holding a “peaceful rally”.
This episode of recent history has become another symbol of heroism of South Ossetians, the courage of the defenders of the Fatherland, and the day of November 23 has since been marked as the Day of Courage and National Unity.
In the evening of the same day, a patriotic song concert will be held at the State Drama Theater.
