President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev have addressed fellow citizens in connection with the 32nd anniversary of the earthquake in Dzau district, which caused numerous casualties and destruction.
"32 years ago, on April 29, 1991, Republic of South Ossetia experienced a terrible tragedy - an earthquake in Dzau district. A natural disaster divided our life into "before" and "after."
The settlement of Dzau was destroyed, and the village of Khakhet was completely wiped off the face of the earth. Powerful tremors of magnitude nine killed 59 people. The consequences of the earthquake are still felt; the pain of loss has not subsided. The memory of the victims of the earthquake in Dzau district will forever remain in our hearts," the address, published on the official website of the head of state, reads.
Alan Gagloev has expressed sincere condolences to all those who lost their loved ones.
"Our people have gone through many tragedies. But we were able to bravely endure, overcome all the hardships. I am sure that we will be getting stronger and developing," the President said.
