The worthy sons of South Ossetia and Dagestan side by side are defending the common history and bright future of the younger generations in the special military operation zone, President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev noted during the meeting with the head of the Republic of Dagestan Sergey Melikov.
The meeting was held on Tuesday at the ground of the first Caucasian Investment Exhibition of the "MinvodyEXPO", according to the message published on the official website of the head of the South Ossetian state.
“We are historically connected with the Russian Federation and continue to see our future development in relation to the Russian Federation, because we have always considered and consider ourselves part of the Russian world. On the eve of a big holiday - the Day of the Great Victory over fascism - we have to say with bitterness that today we are again defending the same values as in 1945. I have no doubt that soon we will build a peaceful life and develop close relations with the fraternal republics,” said Gagloev.
He has also expressed gratitude to Sergei Melikov, recalling that servicemen from the multinational Republic of Dagestan, together with the South Ossetian defenders, were defending the independence of South Ossetia in 2008 and the Republic of Dagestan, according to him, provided significant humanitarian assistance to South Ossetia.
“We will never forget this. Thank you for support. It is symbolic that we met on the Caucasian platform and are discussing the economic potential of our republics. We are set for further development and interaction,” the President said.
Sergey Melikov, for his part, offered to visit Dagestan in order to get acquainted with the functioning of industrial enterprises, in particular, in the field of agribusiness, and discuss opportunities for cooperation.
“First of all, understanding what South Ossetia is doing today in terms of economy, I think you will be interested in our steps that we have taken in the development of the agro-industrial complex. In addition, the discussion with Mikhail Mishustin of the strategy for the development of mountain territories is on the agenda. In my opinion, this would be a good experience for South Ossetia, as we have a lot in common. Therefore, we are ready to exchange experience,” said Sergey Melikov.
He also focused on the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
“I propose to develop ties that relate to sports, culture, events related to youth policy, as well as events related to the exchange of experience, as well as assistance to the families of those patriots who are performing combat missions in the special military operation zone,” said the head of the Republic of Dagestan.
