On Thursday, in Moscow, Children's Ombudsmen of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation signed a Memorandum of Mutual Understanding and Cooperation in the field of protecting the rights and interests of the child.

Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Aelita Dzhioeva is in the Russian capital on a working visit. During the visit, she met with the Children's Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova.

As reported to IA “Res” by Dzhioeva, the meeting was meaningful; acquaintance with Maria Lvova-Belova took place in a friendly atmosphere.

“We discussed a number of problems that exist in the Republic, and they are similar to the difficulties in Russia. Belova proposed to create a working group, send our children to a holiday camp and train specialists in various fields to work with children,”she said.

She has noted that at the meeting they discussed all problematic issues concerning the children of South Ossetia.

“We were able to discuss the whole range of issues relevant to the Republic. The most pleasant thing is that the negotiations have a positive result, i.е. all the help we need will be provided by Russia. Naturally, this makes me happy, because our task is to protect the rights of children and their legitimate interests,” said Dzhioeva.

As added by the Ombudsman, cooperation with Russia, which has extensive experience in this area, is a great success. She also thanked Maria Lvova-Belova for the warm welcome and understanding of the problems of South Ossetian children.

Dzhioeva has shared that on the basis of the Agreement on Alliance and Integration between Russia and South Ossetia, was signed a Memorandum of Mutual Understanding and Cooperation in the field of protecting the rights and interests of the child.

“The points indicated in it relate to the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of children in the field of health care, education, recreation, etc.,” she said.

The Children's Ombudsman has noted that it is planned to start addressing all the identified issues in the near future.
