The Embassy of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation sent a message to all diplomatic missions accredited in the Russian Federation, as well as to the Georgian interests section at the Swiss Embassy, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the recognition of the RSO of the Russian Federation, the press service of the diplomatic department reports.
“On August 26, 2008, Russia, as a great power, a reliable partner and a guarantor of the fulfillment of its obligations, reaffirmed its high mission to maintain peace and security in the region.
On this day, the Russian Federation, taking into account the will of the people of South Ossetia, guided by the principles of international law, recognized the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. The decision of the Russian leadership is the result of a pragmatic and systematic analysis of all circumstances, including a long-term strategic one.
The Embassy has noted that this historic event has become a symbol of South Ossetia's victory over the evil committed for many decades by the criminal Georgian regimes of Gamsakhurdia and Saakashvili.
“The noble determination of the leadership and people of Russia, who saved South Ossetia in August 2008 from extermination, will forever remain in the grateful memory of the Ossetian people.
The fateful decision to recognize the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia created the conditions for the safe development of the Ossetian people and its dignified and peaceful existence
For 15 years, the Republic has been demonstrating to the world community that it is able not only to protect its independence, but also to create and build a full-fledged democratic state,” the diplomatic department said.
It has been added that thanks to the large-scale assistance of Russia, South Ossetia has been successfully solving the tasks of state building, development of the political and socio-economic foundations of the state, strengthening internal law and order and external security.
