South Ossetia intends to strengthen relations with the Republic of Nicaragua - President

South Ossetia aims to strengthen and develop relations with Nicaragua, President of the Republic Alan Gagloev noted during the meeting with the Nicaraguan delegation, arrived to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the recognition of state independence of the Republic by the Russian Federation.

The head of the Republic has noted that today people of the South are celebrating one of the most important public holidays.

"After the recognition of the Republic, bilateral relations began to develop between our countries. South Ossetia is aimed at strengthening and developing them. On my own behalf and on behalf of the people, I express gratitude for coming to share this holiday with us," Gagloev said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres thanked the head of state for the warm welcome.

"We share with you this joyful event, which has become significant for us.

Comandante Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo asked to convey and confirm the words of solidarity and friendship that exist between our governments. We will be glad to host you in the Republic of Nicaragua," the Minister said.

For great personal contribution to the development of relations between South Ossetia and Nicaragua, Alan Gagloev awarded Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindre and the Nicaraguan Ambassador to the Republic of Alba Asucen Torres Mejia with the Order of Friendship.

The Russian Federation on August 26, 2008, after Georgia's armed aggression against Tskhinval, recognized the sovereignty of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The leaders of Russia have repeatedly stated that the recognition of the independence of the republics reflects the existing realities and is not subject to revision. In addition to the Russian Federation, South Ossetia was recognized by Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru and Syria.
