A meeting of the bilateral committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia and North Ossetia-Alania on the cross-border cooperation was held in Tskhinval on Friday.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, the meeting was attended by ministers of internal affairs, heads of departments and services of law enforcement agencies of the two republics, as well as the leadership of the joint information and coordination center.
The head of Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia, Alan Guchmazov, warmly welcomed the guests and congratulated the recently appointed Minister of Internal Affairs for North Ossetia-Alania, Major General of Police Demyan Sergeevich Laptev, on his appointment to a new position.
Alan Guchmazov briefly spoke about the role of North Ossetia in all spheres of life of South Ossetians and the need for interaction and cooperation in the law enforcement sphere.
“In connection with new threats, it is necessary to expand, increase our interaction, and provide assistance to each other. Today, the leadership of our states is doing everything to ensure that citizens are as safe as possible. If we work closely with the causes and conditions of illegal acts, we will thereby significantly reduce the likelihood of their commission. The interaction between the two departments is the key to stability and tranquility in our region. I wish everyone present fruitful work,” the Minister said.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia-Alania, Demyan Laptev, has noted that currently the interaction between the departments is at a high level, and this is very pleasant.
“The planned agreements within the framework of cross-border cooperation are being implemented in all directions, both in criminal investigation and in the search for criminals, in particular, migration control. A lot still needs to be done, we have something to strive for,” Demyan Laptev said.
Reports on the results of the joint activities of the two departments were made by First Deputy Minister, Chief of the Criminal Police of Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Police Colonel Erislav Mamiev, and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for North Ossetia-Alania, Colonel of the Internal Service Taimuraz Tsibirov.
The law enforcement officers discussed the progress of implementation of the cooperation plan and the implementation of the decision of the bilateral committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the two republics, as well as the problem of smuggling across the state border. They also raised such issues as the passage of cars into the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia from the territory of the Russian Federation with false state registration plates, and exceeding the norms for tinting car windows. It was also discussed the problem associated with vehicles with the South Ossetian registration plates temporarily imported into the Russian Federation.
Members of the delegation were also presented with the departmental awards for their assistance in solving the tasks assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.
After the meeting, the guests laid flowers at the memorial complex to the Defenders of Ossetia, and also visited the National Museum.
