The troupe of the branch of the Mariinsky Theater in North Ossetia-Alania, arrived in South Ossetia, laid flowers at the grave of the famous Ossetian composer Zhanna Plieva.
The artists will present the national ballet “Fatima” on the stage of the State Drama Theater on Monday.
A relative of the composer, Madina Bagaeva, has noted that Zhanna left a bright mark after her death.
“It’s very hard that she spent the last years of her life bedridden. Zhanna is the only woman in the Republic in whose honor a star is named, and this also says a lot,” Bagaeva said.
Director of the Republican College of Culture of North Ossetia-Alania Larisa Albegova has noted that not only the Ossetian people are proud of Zhanna’s music, but also everyone who had the chance to get acquainted with her creative work.
“And confirmation of this is that today a wonderful performance based on Kosta’s work “Fatima” with music by our Zhanna Plieva will be presented to the audience. She's gone, but her music remains, which will unite not only our people, but all those who hear it. Everyone should hear this music,” Albegova said.
Plieva is the author of seven symphonies, three ballets, numerous works of chamber, vocal, instrumental music, as well as music for feature and animated films and performances.
In 2002, she was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation for the ballet “The Heavenly Mirror”.
Plieva died at the age of 75.
