State Advisor to President of South Ossetia Vyacheslav Gobozov, during the Moscow-Tskhinval video bridge, has emphasized that the will of the South Ossetian people has no statute of limitations.

According to him, the referendum held on January 19, 1992 in South Ossetia on giving the Republic the status of the independent state and reunification with Russia occupies a special place in the history of the Ossetian people.

“Other referenda cannot affect the legal force of this document. It is an integral part of the legal system of the sovereign state of the Republic of South Ossetia and provides all legal grounds to begin the process of reunification of South Ossetia with Russia at any time. This is required only by the appropriate political decision,” Gobozov has emphasized.

The State adviser to President of the Republic noted that "it is impossible to join another state if it is not ready for this yet."

“Let me remind you that in his pre-New Year press conference, the current president of the Republic, Alan Gagloev, has clearly emphasized that the leadership of South Ossetia today is ready for any option of integration with the Russian Federation, from joining to a union state. The implementation of one or another model of relations between Russia and South Ossetia depends not so much on legal as on political factors. The final result must be beneficial and correspond to the national interests of both parties,” Gobozov said.

The event was attended by Professor, Rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev; Candidate of History, leading researcher at the Center for Euro-Atlantic Security and the Institute of International Studies at MGIMO Sergei Markedonov; Head of the Caucasus Department of the Institute of the CIS Countries Vladimir Novikov.
