The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry commented on the resolution "Cooperation with Georgia" adopted by the UN Human Rights Council.
As noted by the department, the document contains the statements that do not reflect reality about the so-called occupation of the Georgian territories and "human rights violations in the Abkhaz and Tskhinval regions of Georgia."
The Foreign Ministry reminded the participants of the discussion about the provisions of the UN Charter, which determine, in particular, the right of peoples to decide their own fate.
"The peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia made such a choice. The Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia are recognized by UN member states, primarily the Russian Federation, which is also a permanent member of the UN Security Council," the department emphasized.
As noted by the Foreign Ministry in this regard, any talks about the "occupation of the Georgian territories" are absolutely untenable.
Commenting on the "concern" over human rights violations, the Foreign Ministry emphasized that international organizations dealing with this issue "have unfortunately become highly politicized."
"This, naturally, has seriously undermined the trust in these structures," the Foreign Ministry has concluded.
