The scientific conference on the topic the "250th Anniversary of Ossetia's Accession to Russia" was held at the Z. N. Vaneev South Ossetian Research Institute on Thursday.
Director of the scientific Institute Robert Gagloity addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech.
At the beginning of the conference, the most distinguished representatives of the scientific community were awarded medals "In Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the People of South Ossetia".
The event was attended by Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Taimuraz Tadtaev, Head of the Russian House in Tskhinval Sergey Komissarov, Head of the South Ossetian branch of the international public movement "Supreme Council of Ossetians" ("Iry Styr Nykhas") Leonid Tibilov.
The first to speak was Professor Valery Dzidzoyev with a report "Some Problems and Clarifications in the Issue of Russian-Ossetian Relations of the 18th Century".
Then Professor Kosta Dzugayv of the South Ossetian State University presented a report "The Irredentist Essence of the South Ossetian National Liberation Movement".
The professor noted the significance of the event.
"The conference is significant and is timed to coincide with the important date that is celebrated not only in Ossetia, but also in Russia - this is the 250th anniversary of Ossetia's accession to Russia," Dzugaev has emphasized.
In total, three reports were presented during the event, including “South Ossetia Today and the Threats from Georgia.”
