More than 30 delegates and media representatives from South Ossetia will take part in the work of the XI Congress of the Ossetian people in Vladikavkaz, the head of the South Ossetian branch of the international public movement "Supreme Council of Ossetians" ("Styr Nykhas") Leonid Tibilov told the "Res" news agency.
According to him, the Congress of the Ossetian people will be held on December 1, about 590 participants from South and North Ossetia, Ossetian diasporas and communities from regions of the Russian Federation, Abkhazia, Turkey and other countries will take part in its work.
"31 delegates from South Ossetia will take part in the work of this event, they were elected in October at the conference held in Tskhinval. President of our Republic Alan Gagloev has been invited to the congress. On December 2, a forum of compatriots will also be held in North Ossetia, where ten people will take part from South Ossetia. Among them are representatives of the Republic's leadership," Tibilov has specified.
According to him, the Congress will pay serious attention to strengthening the Ossetian language, traditions, and developing culture.
"Zelim Vataev has left the post of chairman of the MOD "Supreme Council of Ossetians" and is moving to another job, so the Congress will be chaired by his first Deputy Vyacheslav Dzagoev. The Congress will summarize the work done over the year, and will raise problematic issues, including the problem of crossing the Lower Zaramag checkpoint, strengthening and developing the Ossetian language, traditions and customs, educating the younger generation, and other issues of a national nature," Leonid Tibilov has noted.
The head of the South Ossetian branch of Styr Nykhasa has noted that the congress will be held in the Ossetian language.
"The Congress will also elect the Chairman of the MOD "Supreme Council of Ossetians," he said.
Tibilov has emphasized that the work of the South Ossetian branch of the international public movement "Supreme Council of Ossetians" ("Styr Nykhas") should be more active.
"We will raise the issue of raising the status of the South Ossetian branch. The international public movement faces many important issues, we must work for the sake of a worthy future for the younger generation," he has added.
Tibilov has also emphasized that the main goal of the work of "Styr Nykhasa" is the preservation of cultural and historical values and the identity of the Ossetian people.
