The death of three-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Buvaisar Saitiev is a great loss for everyone, President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev noted in his telegram of condolences to the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.

Alan Gagloev has noted that everyone who was familiar with Buvaisar had genuine respect for him not only for his athletic talent, but also for his bright individuality, originality and determination.

“In this sorrowful hour, I share with you, the family and friends of Buvaisar Khamidovich, the bitterness of irreparable loss. The bright memory of this remarkable man will forever remain in our hearts,” the telegram says.

The outstanding figure in the Russian school of freestyle wrestling, three-time Olympic champion, a multiple winner of the World, European and Russian championships, Buvaisar Saitiev died on March 2 in the Moscow clinic at the age of 49.
