South Ossetia has honored the memory of the Zar tragedy the victims. Flowers and wreaths were laid at the "Grieving Mother" obelisk - a monument to the victims of the terrible events of 33 years ago.

Hundreds of people came to honor the memory of the victims. Among them were the leadership of the Republic, headed by President Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador Marat Kulakhmetov, relatives of the victims, the "Mothers of Beslan" committee, employees of various departments, etc.

After the laying ceremony, a funeral rally began, during which the names of the Zar tragedy victims were announced and their bright memory was observed with a minute of silence.

President Alan Gagloev addressed the participants of the rally.

"We have gathered here again to honor the memory of 33 people whose lives were cut short by the enemies 33 years ago. Our brothers from North Ossetia asked me to convey that they have not forgotten this common pain of ours and that they are always there. Today is a difficult time and we need to unite more than ever...", Gagloev said.

He has also honored the memory of the recently deceased sculptor Sarmat Zassev, who created the monument to that inhuman act of aggression.

The head of the South Ossetian branch of the international public movement "Supreme Council of Ossetians" ("Styr Nykhas") Leonid Tibilov also addressed those present.

"We have gathered to honor the memory of the victims of the tragedy and express words of sympathy to the relatives of the victims. Let there never be such terrible days on our land again. It is our duty to remember the names of those people. We must understand that today we are next to Russia and our fighters are fighting together in the name of a bright future against fascism in Ukraine. We must also remember the names of those who fell in this fight against the enemy," Tibilov said.

Zhanna Meshcheryakova, a a mother of one of the victims, a 24-year-old Sergei Kairov, was also at the rally.

"My son was heading to his grandmother that day to help her. But unfortunately, he could not get to her, and did not have time to start a family. Such trials for Ossetia began a long time ago. There was the Ered and other tragedies. Just like today, we must always support each other both in good and bad days," she has noted.

Words of support were also expressed by Chairperson of the "Mothers of Beslan" committee, Aneta Gadieva.

"I really want these people in heaven to hear, see and be proud of their people, because they have a reason for this. They sa how their people had been following the thorny path of struggle for their independence all these years. They saw that their death was not in vain. We are always with you, as you are with us,” she has noted.

A choir under the President performed at the end, and gunfire was heard in memory of the victims.

On May 20, 1992, the civilians trying to leave the blockaded Tskhinval along the “road of life,” were shot near the village of Zar, among them women and children,
