South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev met with First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko in Moscow.
According to Gagloev's press Secretary, Natalya Bosikova, the South Ossetian leader is in the Russian capital on a working visit.
During the meeting, the key issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, with particular attention paid to the major reconstruction of the Lower Zaramag checkpoint.
The work is currently underway at this checkpoint, including the installation of a monitoring system information board at the southern entrance to Alagir (formerly the roundabout), displaying the transit time through the checkpoints. The implementation of the modern technologies will optimize checkpoint times and increase throughput.
It should be emphasized that the decision to begin the major reconstruction of the Lower Zaramag checkpoint was made based on the agreements between South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev and Russian President Vladimir Putin reached in May of this year. Following their meeting, the full-scale work is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025, as per the Russian president's signed decree.
At the current meeting with Sergei Kiriyenko, Alan Gagloev discussed in detail the progress and details of the already-underway reconstruction, reaffirming the project's strategic importance for improving transport infrastructure and the convenience of South Ossetian citizens.
