Representatives of South Ossetia participated in a round table in Vilnius (Lithuania), which discussed the events of the Georgian-South Ossetian war in August 2008. As the news agency "Res" was informd by the editor of the newspaper "South Ossetia" Zalina Tskhovrebova, representatives of South Ossetia had participated in the discussion through the space bridge set up between Tskhinval and Vilnius.

South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov does not exclude further military provocations from the Georgian side, declared the Head of State at today`s press conference in Tskhinval.
According to him, Georgia continues to build up its military capability and strengthens its armed forces.

By August 5, 2008 the aggravation of the situation in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict was not reduced, that night the Georgian side shelled twice the positions of law enforcement bodies of the Republic. A massive artillery bombardment of populated areas of South Ossetia, which began on August 1, lasted throughout the night. Six people were killed and twelve injured.
In the night of August 2, the Georgian side has brought down fire on the sleeping town. Heavy fire from automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades was conducted upon the uptown. The ambulances, which were delivering the wounded to the hospital, also came under fire.
