On May 28, South Ossetia will be marking the Day of the South Ossetian diplomacy - 21 years ago it was established the Foreign Ministry of the Republic. May 28-29, 1992 at the session of the Supreme Council was formed the first Council of Ministers of the Republic of South Ossetia. It was also established the Ministry of External Relations of the RSO (now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

South Ossetia is celebrating today the Constitution Day. The Basic Law of the State adopted by referendum on April 8, 2001, includes the constitutional system, rights, freedoms and duties of the citizens, as well as a system of power structures.

Twenty-three years ago, November 23, 1989 on the outskirts of Tskhinval was stopped a march of tens of thousands of the Georgian extremists, organized by leaders of the nationalist movements, through complicity of the authorities of Georgia. The march to Tskhinval was aimed at intimidating the Ossetians that would have to be followed by their expulsion from the territory of South Ossetia. That plan of the Georgian nationalists was thwarted, however, those November days were a prologue to the long struggle of the people of South Ossetia for the right to life, liberty, and human dignity.

A military parade dedicated to the Republic Day has taken place in South Ossetia

At the Theater Square of the South Ossetian capital today has taken place a military parade dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic. In front of the tribune with the leaders of South Ossetia and the visitors lined the stuff of the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior, Border Guard Agency, cadets and the servicemen of the fourth Russian military base and the Russian border guards.

With regard to the fourth anniversary of the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation

August 26 the Republic of South Ossetia is celebrating the fourth anniversary of recognition of the independence of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation. This day in the modern history of the Ossetian people is a significant and turning point. The decision on the recognition of the state independence of the Republic of South Ossetia was motivated by years of national liberation struggle for self-preservation and realization of the rights of our people to national statehood since1989.

The state awards presentation ceremony of citizens of South Ossetia, who made a significant contribution to strengthening the South Ossetian statehood, has been held today in Tskhinval.

Celebrations, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the entry of the Russian peacekeepers in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict - the Day of Peacemaker- will be held today in South Ossetia.
A solemn meeting of the public representatives -"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God"- will be held in the capital of the republic.

Today in South Ossetia three agencies are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their establishment.
The decision to establish the Ministry of External Affairs (now Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Committee for State Security (KGB) and the Ministry of Information, Press and Publications (now the Committee for Information, Communications and Mass Media) was adopted at the session of the Supreme Council of South Ossetia, held on May 28-29,1992.
