On May 28, South Ossetia will be marking the Day of the South Ossetian diplomacy - 21 years ago it was established the Foreign Ministry of the Republic. May 28-29, 1992 at the session of the Supreme Council was formed the first Council of Ministers of the Republic of South Ossetia. It was also established the Ministry of External Relations of the RSO (now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
The Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic was adopted at this session of May 29, 1992.
From the beginning, the main function of the agency was to strengthen the foreign policy positions of the young Republic and to bring to the world community the real situation in South Ossetia. During its activities the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia has done a great job to uphold the country's sovereignty and recognition.
