Relatives of the Missing South Ossetians Appeal to the UN, EU and OSCE

Relatives of people missing after the Georgian military aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia in August 2008, residents of South Ossetia, sent an appeal to the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, the President of the European Union, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Mr. Kanat Saudabayev asking for an objective assessment of the actions of the Georgian side.

We, hereby, the parents and relatives of the missing people of South Ossetia address you with a request to help in tracing our relatives.

David Sanakoev: Every effort should be made to clarify the fate of missing persons

For South Ossetia it is important that the issues related to the fate of missing citizens of South Ossetia receive the same attention as cases of missing Georgian citizens, stated the Commissioner for Human Rights David Sanakoev.
According to him, the parents of missing citizens of the Republic continued their efforts to attract attention to the problem.
"They requested the organizations co-chairing the Geneva discussions and the media to help solving this humanitarian issue of the missing people", said Sanakoev.

OSCE Delegation Meets the Authorities of South Ossetia

A delegation of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), headed by the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Knut Vollebaek arrived in South Ossetia.
In Tskhinval, the delegation met with the Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Murat Dzhioev. The meeting was also attended by South Ossetian President's Plenipotentiary for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev and the Plenipotentiary for Human Rights David Sanakoev.
Murat Dzhioyev assured the OSCE representative that they would be given an opportunity to see the process ongoing in South Ossetia, including the situation with national minorities.

OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Knut Vollebaek Arrives in South Ossetia

Tomorrow, on November 3, OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Ambassador Knut Vollebaek is expected to visit South Ossetia. The delegation of the OSCE will also include Senior Advisor Kaupo Kand and Senior Administrator Simon Short.
As the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia reported to IA "Res", during his visit to Tskhinval, the delegation will meet with Foreign Minister Murat Dzhioev, South Ossetian Plenipotentiary for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev and Plenipotentiary fir Human Rights David Sanakoev.

South Ossetia Resumes Participation Ergneti Meetings

A meeting of the working groups under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism took place in the Georgian village of Ergneti adjacent to the borderline South Ossetia, reported after meeting the head of the South Ossetian delegation Merab Chigoev. Acording to him, the agenda contained 13 questions.

It is regrettable that Tbilisi is still adherent to methods of provocative pressure and the Georgian authorities did not learn any lesson in the tragic events of August 2008.
Georgian authorities are very interested in having the activities of international organizations represented in this region in a way that they would symbolizes the territorial integrity of Georgia, including South Ossetia, but this contradicts the current realities and common sense.

Boris Chochiev: We are open for cooperation with international community

None of the international organizations can implement its activities on the territory of South Ossetia through Georgia, said the South Ossetian President's Special Representative for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev, commenting on the new rule imposed by the government of Georgia, stating that international organizations from now on must submit an special application form to the office of the Georgian State Minister for Reintegration to implement it humanitarian activities in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism To Be Convened in Ergenti

On October 28, a quadrilateral meeting of the working groups under the Geneva Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) will be held in the village of Ergneti at the borderline between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia.
As the head of the South Ossetian delegation Merab Chigoev told IA RES, representatives from Georgia, Russia and the EU would also attend the meeting.
It is worth reminding that the the last fifth meeting at the borderline Georgian village of Ergneti was held October 22, 2009.

The Government of South Ossetia Discusses the Distribution of Russian Financial Aid

The Prime Minister of South Ossetia Vadim Brovtsev held a meeting with the government to discuss issues related to distribution of Russian financial aid to the Republic in 2010.
According to Brovtsev, in the near future a meeting of Russian-South Ossetian intergovernmental commission would take place in Tskhinval to discuss and approve the distribution of funds.
