During the night of 26 to 27 May in the Ossetian village Sguber, Kareli region, Georgia, the house of Tedeves was broken by armed people of Georgian ethnicity in military uniform, they demanded from the family to leave the village immediately. The family had to leave their house and property and leave for Russia. In 1991 Ossetians comprised 60% of the population of that village. Currently only elderly Ossetians that do not have financial means to leave Georgia remain in the village.
This is not a single fact, a small number of Ossetians that were left in Georgia after the ethnic cleansing of Gamsakhurdia fell under the “civilized” programme of Saakashvili.
The plans of the nationalistic Government of Georgia on cleaning the “strange element” under the sympathetic patronage of world leaders on protecting democratic values, are being implemented not only on the territories of Georgia but also the bordering territories of South Ossetia.
Recently the house of one of the residents of village Khelchua in South Ossetia located on the border with Georgia was attacked. During the night of 21st May the an armed group from village Mereti, Gori region, attempted rob and kidnap people. In the same village on 27th May the during the celebration of a religious holiday, special forces of the Ministry of State Safety of Georgia conduct an operation in the result of which were detained 42 people, including woman and children. 12 people were transported to Gori and were bitten up and humiliated. In 1992 village Khelchua together with residents was burnt down by the Goergian nationalists. How many resident s of ossetian ethnicity will remain in this village in one year?
The Government of Georgia and law-enforcement bodies are ignoring the facts of human rights violation and criminal in regard of Ossetians traditionally living in a number of village on the territory of Georgia.
The same attitude the Georgian Government has not only towards Ossetians. The Armenian and Azeri population of Georgia are asking the International Community for protection from the acts of Saakashvili’s Government but so far in vain.
Ossetians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis …. – who is the next?
