The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity met Head of the OSCE Mission to Georgia Terhi Hakala.
The South Ossetian side was represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs of RSO Murat Djioev, co-chairman of JCC from South Ossetian side Boris Chochiev and the President State Adviser Konstantin Kochiev.
The meeting was held in private, journalists attended only in the beginning. After the traditional greeting exchange, President of RSO noted that “2008 should become the year of sudden change in fence-mending with Georgia. Once more we apply to the Government of Georgia and Georgian-Ossetian conflict settlement mediators to organize a meeting of the Presidents of RSO and Georgia on high level within the framework of existing format. And we expect Russian Federation and OSCE to contribute in organization of this meeting”.
Terhi Hakala from her part emphasized “I am very glad to visit Ossetia again and I am sure the new year always supposes new possibilities and everyone should do his best. As You know in Georgia were held elections and cabinet council was changed. Let’s see what it will mean. We rely on a new Minister on Conflicts and believe we could cooperate with him”.
Then Eduard Kokoity said “the military observers of the conflict zone disfigure the real situation again, today we will hand you appropriate documents. The information presented to the OSCE central office is biased and anomalous. We also apply to you with request to assist in release of peacekeepers who are on totally incomprehensible reasons still in Georgia as well as many of the Republic of South Ossetia citizens who are on farfetched accusations serving time in Georgia. These are burning questions which solution we should elaborate in concert. But the most important question we are faced with is the question of water supply to the capital of the Republic of South Ossetia”.
