Georgian side claims the situation in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone will be systematically aggravated, but RSO law enforcement organs are bending every effort to protect the population of Republic. This was stated to IA «Res» correspondent by the Minister of Interior of RSO Mikhail Mindzaev.
«Provocations from the Georgian side will continue but we will bend every effort to prevent them. We can guarantee that we will be protecting our people and we wick protect it.The Georgian side at the semiofficial level claims that the situation within the conflict zone will be systematically aggravated. However we are ready for this and there is nothing for RSO population to be afraid of»-claimed Nindzaev.
The Minister of Interior also thoroughly reported about the shelling of Tskhinval on the night from 14 to 15 June from the side of Georgian villages Ergnety and Nikosi.
«Approximately at five o’clock in the evening on 14 June we received the information that the Georgian side was going to destabilize the situation in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone. But we did not know by what means. In the evening of 14 June the representatives of Georgian posts banned crossing of Georgian-Ossetian border and claimed that at night definite measures will be taken to ‘settle up with Ossetians’. They claimed also that ‘tonight all the Ossetians will be exterminated’.
After receiving of this information MIA posts were switched to the state of the appropriate fighting trim. And approximately at 23:00 information that Georgian side is gathering troops along the entire perimeter of the border line came in. Earlier, at day time we were aware that Georgian side had gathered troops and military equipment.
At 23:20 an intensive shelling of the town started. MIA officials ordered to open return fire only after town blocks became a target. Return fire was delivered only on Georgian positions. The fire lasted with the small intervals about four hours.
Further on we undertook definite steps to enforce all the posts with additional personnel. Presently the damage to the town is counting up. Our teems are working from 06:00 in the damaged districts»-said the Minister.
In the result of the shelling five persons were wounded. Three of them – Zoya Kulumbegova, 62, Arat Nikolyan, 24 and Alan Khodov, 18 were placed in a hospital. The others were just slightly wounded and after the first aid were sent home. The status of Alan Khodov is estimated by the doctors as extremely serious.
The shelling of the town was delivered from the direction of Georgian villages Ergnety and Nikosi from the mortars, grenade launchers and the light weapon. Mostly eastern and south-eastern blocks of the town suffered.
