«Taking into consideration the biased approach, mistakes and even negligence committed by OSCE representatives, we feel no particular confidence in this international organization», stated the President of RSO Eduard Kokoity at 14 January press-conference summing up the results of the Y2008.
«The OSCE showed its activeness and initiative to help us in resuming gas supply to the Republic. If they manage to solve the problem, we would appreciate it. Therefore, if the OSCE have understood their mistakes and negligence, we should continue our contacts with them. If there is understanding and if they ready to hear our position and to talk to us on equal footing, if they are ready to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of South Ossetia, we will take into consideration the proposals made by the OSCE. And if the OSCE questions itself on the way of admitting South Ossetia as OSCE member state. This is another form of our recognition. If they are ready for this, we are ready for a dialogue with them as well. We are not going to close ourselves from the rest of the world behind an iron curtain. We wish to have a normal, civilized dialogue with all. But a dialogue on an equal footing and with due account to our interests», stressed the President.
«OSCE and EU should admit their responsibility the events of August 2008. Sometimes the cynicism of certain representatives of international organizations seems endless. While here with an assessment of the Georgian aggression"s consequences, they intended to bring us to an understanding of some equal responsibly, and much of what they"ve heard from us here was as if they"ve heard it for the first time. What if we recall the number of delegations of various international agencies, which had visited us before the hostilities? We spoke about the fact that Georgia was becoming one of the most militarized states of the world, about the terrorist attacks organized against the population and authorities of South Ossetia. Did anyone react? Distortion of facts which took place here did more harm to these organizations than good, and therefore their authority in our opinion is extremely low. They should do a lot to make us trust them again», said Eduard Kokoity.
The President has also touched upon the activities of the ICRC on the territory of RSO, having stressed that the law enforcement bodies have some serious questions to the ICRC Tskhinval Mission.
«The RSO MFA has been tasked by President to look into the activities of this international organization. We respect the ICRC but we will not allow them fulfilling the functions of private transportation for the citizens of the RSO to Georgia. We have such facts and a number of other issues related to our special services. They will be invited to the MFA in the nearest future for a conversation, as well as they will have a meeting with special services about their activities. We have learnt bitter lessons from August 2008 events, that is why these international agencies do not enjoy any special respect here. We reserve our right to make those decisions which would contribute to security of our state and people», underscored Eduard Kokoity adding that «we will not let anyone do something different under the pretext of assistance provided to our people».
