Georgian citizens, native Avnevi residents David Kapandze, 1969, and Demuri Chighladze, 1973, were detained in the village of Tsnelis, Znaur district, for illegal border crossing, reported the RSO MoD press-service.
"On 27 February, native residents of Avnevi village were detained in the village of Tsnelis (the previous report referred to the village of Okona), Znaur district, for illegal border crossing. The two persons had IDs of war veterans and participants of military operation of August 2008. Presently, the Law Enforcement Bodies of RSP are conducting investigation on the reasons for the persons" penetration into the territory of South Ossetia and their involvement in killings of South Ossetian citizens in August 2008", said the MoD report.
The report stressed that "no one had demanded for a ransom".
