The Prodexpo-2025 exhibition has become the important platform for promoting the South Ossetia brand, strengthening trade ties and finding new partners, Taimuraz Goginov, trade representative of South Ossetia in Russia, told IA “Res”, commenting on the results of the past event.
He noted the high level of interest in the national exposition of the Republic.
“The attention to our exposition was significant, and one of the key moments was the visit of the VTB Senior Vice President Alexander Gogolev. VTB Bank plays important role in the economic development of South Ossetia, and one of its latest projects was the financing of the cannery,” Goginov said.
Diplomatic representatives of the countries that recognized the independence of South Ossetia have also showed great interest in the stand.
"Our exposition was visited by the Ambassadors of Nicaragua and Venezuela, as well as by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry. We are grateful for their attention and support," the trade representative has added.
Many negotiations were held at the exhibition, including cooperation agreement with representatives of federal retail chains.
"We have also held negotiations with the Iranian business community. I told them about the agreement on the trade regime that South Ossetia has with the Russian Federation. We were talking about Iranian investments in South Ossetia, about the prospects. Of course, we will continue to negotiate. They invited us to participate in the Iranian exhibitions. I hope that in 2025 we will go to Iran and will be discussing the common ground in more detail. I believe that we have every opportunity to attract the Iranian investor to our business," the trade representative has noted.
At the Prodexpo, South Ossetia presented various products, and as noted by Goginov, all of them were successful.
"We had new products from the Ironsan winery, a new beer from the High-Mountain Kel Brewery, as well as novelties among the products of the cannery. Of course, one of our new products was pickled garlic. We plan to export both garlic and its derivatives to Russia this year," our interlocutor said.
Attention at the stand was paid not only to products, but also to the cultural heritage of South Ossetia.
"The works of the outstanding artist Mikhail Kulumbegov with picturesque landscapes of the Republic, which decorated our stand, attracted a lot of attention from visitors. No one passed by these works, the beautiful landscapes of South Ossetia. Of course, we were talking about the tourism potential of the Republic, especially in the light of the launch of the Mamison resort. I believe that it will give a great boost to tourism. We had a representative of the investment group at our stand who was planning practical steps in developing this area and intended to start building small hotels in South Ossetia,” Goginov has shared.
According to the trade representative, the plans for 2025 include participation in key exhibitions and forums, such as Interfood.Ural in Yekaterinburg, the beer festival in Sochi and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“The main goal is to promote the South Ossetia brand and increase the export of our competitive products to the Russian market,” he summed up.
Goginov has expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in organizing the stand and preparing the products, emphasizing that participation in the Prodexpo-2025 was the important step to further strengthening South Ossetia’s position in the international trade arena.
