RSO President Eduard Kokoity visited reconstruction sites, the buildings destroyed during the Georgian aggression in August 2008. While this visit, he was accompanied by the Chairman of the Government Vadim Brovtsev, Chairman of the State Committee for Reconstruction Zurab Kabisov, the Director of “Direction for Implementation of Priority Project” Ismagil Karimov, as well as by representatives of contractor companies. President visited sites in Djava and Tskhinval districts of South Ossetia and private and municipal houses under reconstruction in Tskhinval city.
“In general, we are satisfied with the quality of works. However, we sometimes have to deal with dishonest people. For instance, there might be a person, who has not been living in South Ossetia and his house was empty, but he demands to reconstruct his house. Some Vitaly Khasiev in the village of Khetaguro was arguing that his house was not reconstructed, while during the war, he was in St.-Petersburg, where he has been staying for long. For us, the priority for reconstruction are those houses, the dwellers of which live here and they have no place to stay at”, said President Kokoity.
During this visit, Eduard Kokoity stressed that it was necessary to increase manpower at some of the sites. He also promised to pay compensations to those citizens who reconstructed their houses with their own means. President has highly appreciated the work of local constructors engaged in the replacement of roofs.
Ediard Kokoity stated that “in two years there would be no person, who would need housing”. President has also asked the residents of the visited placed on the process of compensations payout. Prime-Minister Vadim Brovtsev stressed that the works at the construction sites were actively ongoing. However, “there are problems which should be settled. We had to hear the views of residents and constructors. We will discuss the results of this visit during our joint meeting at which relevant structures will be tasked to carry out concrete steps. We should create necessary conditions to the people”.
Prime-Minister has pointed to the fact that the houses under reconstruction should have a unified architectural design., “If we build similar houses it would look better”, he said. We should build up a beautiful city”.
