The First Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zelig held a working meeting with the Heads of District Administrations of South Ossetia. The Director General of the State Unitary Enterprise “Energo-Resurs – South Ossetia” Alan Gabaraev attended the meeting.
The discussion focused on the issues related to road connection with between the city and rural areas of the Republic.
Alan Gabaraev reported on electricity cuts off during the weekend. According to him, the problems were linked to breakdown at the main electricity line from Russia, noting that the damage was restored by South Ossetian electricians.

“Similar problems are linked to the absence of additional (reserve) electricity line. We consider the possibility of installing an additional line in a technical pass during the rehabilitation at Roki tunnel. Such technical solution will allow secure the republic from any electricity breakdowns”, he said.
Gabaraev has also informed that rehabilitation works were ongoing at Tskhinval distribution station to replace 16 kV transformers for ones with higher capacity of 25 kV. “The replacement is related to the fact that the existing transformers cannot resist the overrunning power consumption in winter time, as it happened in 2008. All the equipment will be replaced at Tskhinval distribution station”, he noted. “It is a difficult work. Currently, the works are being implemented by North Caucasus Maintenance Company “SKERK”. “This work should be finished before the heating season starts”, added Gabaraev.
