The four Georgian citizens detained 4 November by the law enforcement bodies of South Ossetia feel well. No means of physical or psychological pressure were used against them, the detainees themselves reported to journalists while at the Pre-trial Detention Facility (IVS) of the RSO Interior Ministry in Tskhinval.
According to the detainees, they were aware of the charges against them in illegal crossing of the state border of South Ossetia and illegal possession of explosives. In the meantime, the suspects reject their possessing hand-grenades and explosives stating that the bag they had contained nothing but food.
The detainees were also informed about the state border-line between South Ossetia and Georgia and that its violation would lead to a criminal prosecution.
To the question on their penetration to South Ossetia, one of the detainees informed that he intended to visit his house in the village of Kheiti (Tskhinval district of RSO).
Today, the ICRC representatives in Tskhinval also gained an access to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (IVS). They had the possibility to have a detailed conversation with the detainees.
The minor Georgian citizens, residents of the village of Tirdznisi, Gori district of Georgia, were detained by the South Ossetian law enforcement bodies 4 November. The Investigation Department of the RSO Interior Ministry filed a criminal case based on the facts of illegal possession of explosives (Art 222, Criminal Code of the RF) and illegal crossing of the state border (Art 322, RF CC).
