The Ministry of Culture of South Ossetia is to hold events devoted to the second anniversary of the Georgian aggression of August 2008. As reported by Deputy Minister of Culture Julietta Djeranova, several photography exhibitions would be open in Tskhinval to focus on the war in August 2008. “A photo exhibition will be held in front of the government building, as well as at the Culture House Sofprof in Tskhinval”, said Djeranova. Documentary films about the August aggression will be also shown.”
Besides, according to her, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra will play for the South Ossetian audience. “On 8 August, we are also planning to perform the play of Lopes De Vega “The eleventh commandment”, added Djeranova. The performance is being prepared by St-Petersburg director Ivan Osipov.”
According to Djeranova, this play was first performed in Tskhinval last August in the burnt down building of the Parliament. Commemorating events in South Ossetia will start 4 August with “IR” Meida enter round-table “Hot August 2008. Contemporary history lessons”. The main mourning events will take place 7-8 August. Mourning action “Living light of memory” will start at 23:35 on 7 August and will end in the morning of 8 August. At night, a public prayer for victims will be held, a well as requiem concert and other events. During the day, 8 August, the Museum of Burnt Souls will be open. The same day, a Memorial Cross will be installed and commemorating events for those who perished will be held.
