The construction of power supply line to Leningor District of South Ossetia has been completed, reported the Head of the District Administration of Leningor Alan Jussoev.
According to him, the population in more than 60 villages of the district are now connected to electricity.
"Electricity is supplied to more than 60 villages across the district inhabited by mixed Georgian-Ossetian population. Whereas previously the electricity in the area came from Georgia, now the whole area is entirely in the South Ossetian power supply network", said Jussoev.
According to him, today only two villages in Leningor district are not yet connected to the power line from Tskhinval. "The exceptions are two villages: Ahmadzhi and Nagoma, which are not yet supplied with power. In Ahmadzhi, the Russian border guards are building up a post, and the border guards themselves are going to install the electricity lines, which we very much aprreciate. To install the power lines in the village of Nagoma, the SUE "Energoresurs" - South Ossetia is now purchasing all the required equipment," Jussoev told IA RES.
Touching upon the issue of heating season, he noted that the next winter the residents of Leningor district of South Ossetia would stay without gas supply as it was during the previous two years.
"There is no hope that at least this year the Georgian side will resume the gas supply to the residents of the area. It is a political step taken by the Georgian authorities. And this policy should lead to the understanding among the population of the differences with Georgia. We need to install our own gas; I believe, this is the way out ", concluded Jussoev.
He added that in the absence of natural gas, people again will have to install wood stoves in their houses.
"This year, the population has no choice but to heat houses with wood, and the only school building Leningor, which accommodated in fact two schools, will be provided with diesel fuel heating ", underscored Jussoev.
It is worth reminding that Georgia cut off natural gas supply to Leningor District in August 2008. The electricity supplied from Georgia till this year was irregular.
