Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in South Ossetia. In Tskhinval the distinguished guest met with the President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov.
He has welcomed the head of the Russian Government, noting that these days the Republic is commemorating one of the most tragic pages of its history - four years ago, the Georgian troops treacherously invaded South Ossetia.

"Hundreds of people were killed and thousands injured. Were killed the defenders of our country, the peacekeepers. And no one knows how many more victims would have been if you had not made your decision to force the aggressor to peace ", - emphasized the president.
He recalled their meeting in Sochi with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, stressing that he had assured then the head of the Russian state that in South Ossetia would be done the best to raise the prestige of the republic in the eyes of the Russian leadership and people.
"I assured the president of Russia, and I assure you that the new leadership of South Ossetia will do everything that a huge Russian aid would be used for according to its intended purpose and the people will feel it on their standard of living" - said Tibilov.
He highlighted the great contribution of Dmitry Medvedev to the fate of the South Ossetian state, recalling his decision on recognition the independence of South Ossetia on August 26, 2008.
"Since then this date is celebrated every year in the Republic, and I would like to thank you for this and for what you are doing for South Ossetia now," - said the president.
In turn, Dmitry Medvedev expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and said that he had arrived in South Ossetia to discuss the issues of socio-economic development of the Republic.
"I `ve come with my colleagues from the Government, from the presidential administration to discuss practical steps for socio-economic development of the country. I am sure, together we can solve not only the complex geopolitical problems, but also quite peaceful tasks that people are expecting so much, "- said Medvedev.
According to him, the main task is-to establish a peaceful life in the country.
"Our common task is to promote the revival of normal life and construction of a large number of civilian facilities, because in the military sphere everythingis all right. Our military base is maintaining peace in South Ossetia, helping the process of development of the independent state. Our goal is to work together for building as much housing as possible, fixing roads, building infrastructure, "- said the Russian Prime Minister.
