Leonid Tibilov met with the Ambassador of Venezuela in South Ossetia

President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov has received today in Tskhinval the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of South Ossetia Hugo Jose Garcia Hernandez.

On behalf of the Ossetian people the President welcomed the guest and asked to convey the best wishes to the President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez.
"We hope that you`ll convey him a sincere wish for good health and victory in the upcoming presidential elections." - Tibilov said.
He has noted that this meeting was to take place earlier, but due to illness of the ambassador it has been rescheduled for a later date.
"I am pleased that our meeting did take place and it is symbolic, that it is being held in these days of August, which have special meaning for us," – underlined the head of state.
He recalled that on August 7-8 South Ossetia had been commemorating the fourth anniversary of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia.
"And August 26 we will be celebrating the recognition of independence of the Republic by Russia", - said Tibilov.
He has also stressed that South Ossetia is appreciating the relations established between Venezuela and South Ossetia, and will do everything for their further development.
In turn, Hugo Jose Garcia Hernandez noted that people of Venezuela had also been honoring the events of August 2008, realizing how important this date for South Ossetia was.
"Such invasions are usually discussed by all. And after Russia had recognized your independence, Hugo Chavez, without thinking twice, followed its example, "- said the Ambassador.
He has also mentioned the positive development processes in South Ossetia aimed at improving the life in the country.
The ambassador has explained that due to the illness of Hugo Chavez and the upcoming presidential elections in Venezuela, the country temporarily froze its international relations not only with South Ossetia, but also with other countries.
"It is very important that the international community has realized that we hold free and democratic elections", - underlined the ambassador.
It should be reminded that the Ambassador of Venezuela, arrived in South Ossetia for a two-day visit. Today the diplomat has met with the RSO Minister for Foreign Affairs David Sanakoev, discussing with him questions of foreign policy and the situation in South Ossetia and Venezuela.
