The border authorities of South Ossetia have stopped the attempt by a group of people to organize a channel for the illegal movement of the Georgian citizen across the state border of the republic, the KGB press service reports.

“In particular, it was established that on March 22, a group of citizens of the Republic assisted in the illegal entry from Georgia into South Ossetia and the subsequent hiding in one of the residential buildings of the village of Otreu in Tskhinval district of Khetereli Lasha Aleksandrovich, born in 1998, a resident of the settlement of Marneuli in the Gori municipality of Georgia.

On the same day, while committing these criminal acts, Khetereli was detained by the border patrol of the Republic. The said person had previously repeatedly violated the state border regime of South Ossetia and in connection with this was brought to administrative and criminal liability," the statement of the press service reads.

On March 31, the investigative bodies of the KGB of the Republic initiated a criminal case against the detained foreigner on the grounds of a crime under Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal crossing of the state border".

A criminal case was initiated against the citizens of South Ossetia who assisted Khetereli in the illegally crossing the South Ossetian-Georgian border under Article 322.1 "Organization of illegal migration".

The KGB warns that all possible directions of penetration of violators of the state border of the Republic are in the sectors of influence of the border forces of South Ossetia.

"Persons found in assisting violators are under special control during the implementation of security and preventive measures by the South Ossetian law enforcement agencies," the department has noted.
