Nine participants of the special military operation miraculously escaped from the encirclement, which they found themselves in during the battles for one of the settlements of the Zaporizhzhye region.
The whole time that the fighters were under siege, their comrades in arms were thinking about how to help them.
Mikhail Budziev, a call sign "Kudar", a fighter of the "Storm-Ossetia" battalion, told the IA "Res" about how they had managed to rescue their brothers in arms.
According to the fighter, nine fighters from various units were surrounded for six days.
"Our guys went on the assault and came under attack from enemy drones, as a result of which eight out of the nine fighters received shrapnel wounds. They were besieged, and had been without food or water for six days. All these days we were thinking about how to help them. The only way out was to wait for cloudy weather, since drones do not fly in fog or rain," Budziev said.
As reminded by Mikhail, on the evening of the sixth day, fog thickened, which provided the opportunity to take the fighters out of the line of combat contact.
"My comrade-in-arms with the call sign "Sergeant Major" decided to take a risk and go after them, I volunteered to go with him, since I knew the road well. Along the way, we came under enemy fire several times, but the shells did not reach us. Having arrived safely, we picked up the guys," the volunteer continued his story.
When asked if there was fear, the fighter answered that he was most afraid of not having time to save his brothers in arms.
He also noted the heroism and selflessness of Marat Botoev with the call sign "Khipish", heroically died saving the others.
"Marat was one of the first to come to the aid of the fighters, showing true heroism, but died a hero's death. Now we are faced with the task of taking his body from the battlefield. Unfortunately, circumstances do not allow us to do this yet," Mikhail said.
Four of the rescued fighters, according to "Kudar", are from the "Storm-Ossetia" battalion and five are from the neighboring units. One of them, with the call sign "Villain", has six children waiting for him at home.
Mikhail Budziev himself has been in the special military operation zone for almost three years, he signed his first contract with the "Alania" battalion, and later continued serving in "Storm-Ossetia". The fighter is from the village of Kardzhin, Republic of North Ossetia - Alania, and is raising two children.
