Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has said that Russia is ready for a dialogue with the new leadership of Georgia, but in consideration of the current geopolitical realities and the decisions on recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, adopted by Russia.
"I once said that the only person, with whom I was not ready to sit at the same table, was Mikhail Saakashvili. He started the war; he committed a crime-first of all, against the Georgian people. He is also guilty of the death of the other countries` citizens. The current Prime Minister – is a representative of another generation of politicians, let`s wait for his real actions, "- Medvedev said in an interview to the newspaper "Kommersant ".

According to him, some signals are heard from Georgia, that it would be good to establish contacts, not yet at the diplomatic level, and Russia will take into consideration these signals.
"I do not see anything wrong to restore humanitarian cooperation, there is air service between our countries, the contacts between our people, thank God, are ongoing, cultural ties have also remained, trade and economic relations can be reestablished, too... It's not an easy way, but Russia always said that we were ready for a dialogue with the new leadership of Georgia. But, of course, taking into account the current geopolitical realities and the decisions on recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, adopted by Russia ", - said the Russian prime minister.
It should be reminded that on the night of August 8, 2008 the Georgian forces attacked South Ossetia. Russia, protecting the South Ossetian people, most of whom are the Russian citizens, sent troops to the Republic and after five days of fighting the Georgian troops were ousted from the territory of the Republic. August 26, 2008, Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. In response, Tbilisi broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow and declared South Ossetia and Abkhazia - the occupied territories. Currently, at the Swiss Embassy in Moscow and Tbilisi are working the sections in the interests of Georgia and Russia.
