The Glory Garland was laid at the "Eternal Flame" in Tskhinval

A solemn ceremony of laying the Garland of Glory at the memorial "The Eternal Flame" has been held in Tskhinval on the eve of the Victory Day. The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, Chairman of the South Ossetian Parliament Stanislav Kochiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev, Russian diplomats, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, members of the government of the Republic, leaders of the FSS Border Control Agency of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia and the 4-th Russian military base, pupils, public representatives.

After the laying ceremony the head of state addressed the participants of the event.
"May 9 is a sacred holiday that fills our hearts with pride for our fathers and grandfathers, who in the battles of the World War II saved the world from fascism''''," - said the president.
The participants of the war, the president has continued, achieved victory at the cost of great losses.
"You, dear veterans, gave peace to the younger generations. After the war you have also done much to restore what was destroyed. Unfortunately, twenty years ago, you again underwent a terrible ordeal, brought by Georgian aggression, "- said the president.
Fearless feat and courage of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War have become an example for the defenders of Ossetia during the war in August 2008.
"We managed to repel the Georgian aggression with the help of the great Russia. We will honor the victory of defenders of Ossetia in this war, remembering the feat that they performed, liberating us from the nowadays fascism, "- he emphasized.
The president has stressed that the leadership of the Republic will do everything necessary to ensure conditions for a worthy life for veterans, to help them forget the hardships of the war.
Leonid Tibilov conveyed the heartfelt greetings of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Deputy Security Council of the Russian Federation Rashid Nurgaliyev to veterans of the World War II and to the people of South Ossetia.
At the end of the rally those present observed a minute's silence in memory of the soldiers perished during the World War II.
