Comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia with regard to the statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

May 28, 2013 the Georgian Foreign Ministry has expressed indignation at the allegedly unauthorized transfer of the South Ossetian border by the Russian border guards and the erection of barbed wire near the villages Ditsi and Dhwani.
As it`s known, the state border between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia is protected by border guards of the Russian Federation and South Ossetia in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement signed in April 2009. All the works to define a frontier between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia are carried out in full accordance with the legislation of the Republic of South Ossetia.
The actions of the border guards in no way affect the sovereignty of neighboring Georgia, as well as not any unauthorized transfer was committed by the Russian border guards. What about the indignation expressed by the representatives of the Georgian leadership – it is nothing more that another provocation, targeted at the population living along the border.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, the territory of our state is defined within the territorial boundaries of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Region. Whether or not, South Ossetia is an independent, recognized state, and it will determine its border policy by itself.
