The meeting of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu took place in Moscow, the press service of the President of the Republic reports. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Defense Ibrahim Gasseev, Ambassador to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin and First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Sergey Rudskoy.
Welcoming Sergei Shoigu, Anatoly Bibilov noted his long-time acquaintance with South Ossetia and constant help and attention to the problems of the Republic.
“I want to thank you for what you did for South Ossetia, I mean from the beginning of those events - the collapse of the Soviet Union, the armed conflict. You were then a tactical leader of the settlement of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict. We remember all this. And, of course, people of South Ossetia are grateful for those years, grateful and, of course, for 2008, when a humanitarian catastrophe was stopped,” said the President.
According to Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, the friendly relations of the armed forces of Russia and South Ossetia are full of various events.
“Exercise, military cooperation and next generation training. We have a lot to discuss,” said Sergey Shoigu.
“Many events are connected with the beginning of the new Russia. And, of course, everything that happened in Russia over the years is closely intertwined with South Ossetia, with its history and peoples who live in the Caucasus,” he Russian Defense Minister emphasized.
He has expressed confidence that everything that President of South Ossetia is doing contributes to a serious restoration of the Republic and its economy.
During the meeting, Anatoly Bibilov and Sergei Shoigu discussed issues of cooperation between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation in the military sphere, in particular, the possibility of training specialists, a gradual increase in the monetary allowance of South Ossetian military personnel, the provision of military technical assistance and the provision of peacekeeping troops.
It should be noted that Anatoly Bibilov is in the Russian Federation on a two-day working visit.
