Anatoly Bibilov visited the museum of defense and blockade of Leningrad

President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov has visited the State Memorial Museum of Defense and Siege of Leningrad, the press service of the head of state reports.

A tour of the museum for the President of South Ossetia was conducted by director Elena Lezik.

The museum was opened during the Great Patriotic War, in 1944. It presents expositions showing various aspects of life in the besieged city, the defense of Leningrad. Among the exhibits are photographs and videos, blockade diaries, personal items, weapons and uniforms of the city’s defenders, installations of the battlefield and bomb shelters.

According to the director of the museum, "the purpose of the expositions is to fill the general course of history with personal testimonies."

Anatoly Bibilov left an entry in the Book of Honored Visitors. The President noted the tremendous work of the museum staff and emphasized that "the preserved evidence of the consequences of the war should warn future generations from new tragedies."

The President also laid flowers at the museum, honoring the memory of the victims of the siege of Leningrad.
