The unity of the peoples of South Ossetia and Russia will be a great contribution to the life of future generations, said President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov at a reception in Tskhinval. The reception was organized by the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic and the Russian Center for Science and Culture on the eve of the celebration of National Unity Day - November 4.
“The need for unification - I consider the main task of the peoples of South Ossetia and Russia, I think that each person, not just in words, but by his actions should do everything to make it happen,” the President said. “And this will be a great contribution to the life of future generations.” I am sure that it is in our power to reach this unity and our desires come true. We must take steps that will lead us to this, because, as they say, desires have the property to come true.”
The President has noted that the Russian holiday- Unity Day. is significant and unifying.
“After all, the words “our strength is in unity” are not just the words we pronounce, they should unite us all - citizens of Russia and South Ossetia. And the steps that the leadership of the two states are taking today are, without a doubt, aimed at the unity that each of us dreams of,” the head of state emphasized.
He has reminded that recently has been celebrated the 270th anniversary of the opening of the First Ossetian Embassy in St. Petersburg.
“This was also a really courageous step in the unification of our peoples,” the head of state said. “We also remember the power that was in unity during the existence of the Soviet Union.”
Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, in turn, has noted that the Day of National Unity is a common holiday for the peoples of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, which has deep historical roots.
“Our predecessors many centuries ago defended the independence of our country - large and immense,” the Ambassador emphasized. - Thanks to their dedicated work, our generation has withstood serious trials. Our common homeland was great by the names of Pushkin, Lermontov, Khetagurov, outstanding commanders Suvorov, Zhukov, Mamsurov and other famous personalities. Our predecessors gave us what we breathe, live, and our task is to preserve their heritage, to pass it on to our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I think each of us should put a small brick in that common building, which is called our great Motherland.”
On behalf of the Federal Agency for Rossotrudnichestvo, Sergey Skvortsov, head of the agency’s representative office in the Republic, congratulated those present on the holiday, stressing that there are more than 180 nationalities living in Russia, one of the unifying factors of which is the Russian language.
“The Russian language also unites the peoples of Russia and South Ossetia,” said Skvortsov.
The diplomat also presented a diploma of the Federal Agency for Rossotrudnichestvo for great achievements in popularizing the Russian language in the Republic to the teacher of the Russian language and literature of the Tskhinval school No. 5 Tamara Tuayeva.
