South Ossetia intends to continue to appeal to the world community with a demand to recognize the fact of the genocide of the Ossetian people, said President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov at a mourning event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the Zar tragedy. About 300 people laid flowers and wreaths at the monument to the victims of the tragedy in the village of Zar in the Tskhinval district on Wednesday; a minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims..
“We will continue to demand from the Georgian side to recognize the facts of the crimes that they committed on the territory of South Ossetia, apply and demand from the world community to recognize the fact of the genocide of the Ossetian people. The tragedy that occurred on May 20, 1992 on the Zar road, is a continuation of the crimes committed by Georgia in the 20s of the last century,” the President said.
Anatoly Bibilov has emphasized that South Ossetia will dispel the untruth that Georgia brings to the world community regarding South Ossetia.
“We will do everything to ensure that the deception that sounds from international platforms on the part of Georgia is recognized precisely by the deception of the world community, which it is in fact. We will dispel this untruth. We will bring to the world community what actually happenned”, the head of state said.
The President has added that 28 years in a row after the Zar tragedy, the pain in the heart of the people of the Republic has not abated.
“And during this time in Georgia there was not a single person who would apologize for the criminal acts committed against the innocent residents of South Ossetia,” Bibilov said.
South Ossetia, for its part, has added the head of state, is a civilized country and is moving according to the human standards that the people of the Republic have determined for themselves.
It should be reminded that on May 20, 1992 a convoy of passenger buses and cars full of women, old people and children was slowly moving up the Zar road. At 11:30-11.40, on the next bend of the road, the Georgian aggressors sent a barrage of fire at cars from an ambush in the direction of civilians. The passengers did not understand what was happening at first, the shooting lasted for a few minutes, and during this time, few people managed to get out of the cars, which turned into death traps.
