The life of the Patriarch is a vivid example of devoted service to the Motherland. He was respected for the highest decency, integrity, for a caring attitude towards people and a high sense of responsibility for the cause to which he devoted his life. I remember with deep gratitude the honor of a personal meeting with Patriarch Irenaeus.

In this hour of sorrow, we share with the Serbian people the bitterness of irreparable loss and offer our relatives and friends of Patriarch Irenaeus our deep condolences in connection with the grief that befell them. "
