The heads of the Ministries of Education of South Ossetia and the Donetsk People's Republic agreed to expand scientific and educational cooperation

In Tskhinval, a protocol was signed on amending the Agreement between the government of the Donetsk People's Republic and the government of the Republic of South Ossetia on the mutual recognition of education. The agreement provides for expanding cooperation in the field of education and science of the two countries.

During the meeting, Acting Minister of Education and Science of South Ossetia Natalie Gassieva warmly greeted her colleague from the Donetsk People's Republic Mikhail Kushakov, having noted that the protocol will certainly expand scientific and educational cooperation between the two republics.

“The protocol provides for the mutual recognition and equivalence of special documents related to the submission of candidate minimums. Also, through the protocol, a clause is introduced on the recognition of certificates on the assignment of the titles of associate professor and professor, so applicants will have an excellent opportunity to continue their studies further for competition, and submit their documents to a meeting of dissertation councils in order to obtain one or another qualification. This is a good step, we look forward to further cooperation,” Gassieva said.

In turn, Minister of Education and Science of the Donetsk People's Republic, Mikhail Kushakov, noted the importance of signing the Agreement, which allows increasing interaction between educational and scientific organizations of both countries.

“Within the framework of expanding the spheres of interaction, we have deepened our joint cooperation, especially in the field of training highly qualified personnel. This primarily applies to associate professors, professors and teaching staff, who can work on equal terms in the Donetsk People's Republic and South Ossetia. We can use the potential of the two educational systems of our republics in training highly qualified personnel,” said Kushakov.

It should be noted that the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Government of the Republic of South Ossetia on mutual recognition of education and qualifications was signed on June 22, 2018. The agreement regulates the mutual recognition of education and qualifications received in educational and scientific organizations in the Donetsk people's Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia in educational programs accredited in accordance with the laws of each state, to ensure access for persons who are documented on the appropriate education or training, for continuing education or professional practice in both States.
