South Ossetia has once again called on the world community to condemn and bring to justice the Georgian leadership, guilty of crimes committed against the Ossetians.

In South Ossetia, on Thursday, the memory of the victims of the Ered tragedy was honored; 30 years ago, 12 civilians - Ossetians - were tortured and buried alive near the village of Ered.

"This day entered the modern history of South Ossetia as the Ered tragedy, and in a long series of tragic events of 1920-21, 1989-92 and 2008, it is a black page of unpunished criminal acts and genocide against the Ossetian people, committed by Georgia., and its policy of fascism. South Ossetia is again appealing to the world community, which has been silent for 30 years, with a call to condemn and bring to justice the former and current Georgian leadership, guilty of crimes against peace and humanity, the Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia said in a press release.

It notes that the corresponding letter was sent to the address of all diplomatic missions accredited in the Russian Federation and to the section of Georgian interests at the Swiss embassy.

“Only in September 1993, more than two years after long and painstaking work, did the relatives and authorities of South Ossetia know the place of burial and the circumstances of the incident. Law enforcement agencies of South Ossetia opened a criminal case on this fact. Unfortunately, it is still not possible to bring the criminals to justice, since Georgia is hiding the criminals, as well as information about their whereabouts, "the Embassy said.

Ambassador of the Republic to Russia, Znaur Gassiev, in his commentary stressed that this act was the gravest crime against humanity, which had no statute of limitations, recognized by the world community.

“It was committed by persons with whom we lived side by side for 70 years in a single country., Khatyn, Babi Yar ... They freed the surviving prisoners and civilians from Nazi concentration camps. The fathers and grandfathers of these nonhumans, who committed a crime in the village of Ered, also fought against Nazism, like representatives of all peoples of the former USSR, and no one expected that the descendants of front-line heroes, fighters against fascism, will do something similar. Nevertheless, this terrible ideology of misanthropy, unfortunately, smoldered in the hearts of these people, "the ambassador said.

According to Gassiev, Nazism became the basis of the policy of state terrorism pursued by the Georgian government in relation to the Ossetian people, the Abkhaz people, as well as other small ethnic groups.

"The roots of this terrible phenomenon go back to the beginning of the XX century, when the armed formations of the Georgian so-called democratic republic, under the command of V. Dzhugeli, destroyed and burned South Ossetia, and the people were forced to flee to Russia. History repeated itself in the late XX - early XXI centuries with the coming to power under the nationalist slogan "Georgia - for Georgians" Z. Gamsakhurdia, which entailed such monstrous crimes as the Ered tragedy, the tragedy on the Zar road, the tragedy in the village of Tliakana. 2008, from the criminal policy of which thousands of civilians, including Russian peacekeepers, died during the August events. We must not forget about the dozens of dead and missing Ossetians who, in fact, lived in the interior regions of Georgia and had nothing to do with to the events in South Ossetia. They became victims simply because they were of a different nationality, not Georgians, "Gassiev recalled.

He believes that this terrible ideology, which, among other things, is professed in modern Georgia, must be resolutely fought, "for impunity gives rise to new tragedies, new ruined innocent souls."

Gassiev has stressed that South Ossetia has not yet heard from its southern neighbor "no words of repentance, no regret, no compassion."
