South Ossetia and Russia exchanged instruments of ratification on the settlement of the dual citizenship issues.
The protocol on the exchange of instruments was signed by head of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry Akhsar Dzhioev and the Russian Ambassador to the Republic Marat Kulakhmetov.
The agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on the settlement of the dual citizenship issues was signed on September 20, 2021. It states that citizens of one party have the right to acquire the citizenship of the other party without renouncing their existing citizenship.
The ceremony was attended by President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev. He noted the significance of today's event.
"Our joint, persistent and fruitful work has yielded results. We will soon complete the final adoption of this law and begin the planned implementation of the document. This is not a quick matter, but we are almost at the finish line,” Kulakhmetov said.
