The delegation of South Ossetia, participating in the presidential elections in Syria as international observers, has noted the democratic nature of the voting, the press service of the legislative body of the Republic of South Ossetia told the “Res” news agency.

“The feeling of a holiday is present throughout Syria, people come to vote with pleasure. It is noticeable that they believe in their future, every citizen wants to contribute to the development of the Syrian state,” said Alan Tadtaev, speaker of the RSO parliament.

The head of the South Ossetian Presidential Executive Office, Igor Kozaev, has noted that the elections meet all democratic norms.

“The ballot boxes are sealed, the same person cannot vote twice, because he paints his finger with special ink that cannot be removed within three days. Another feature that I would like to note is that a citizen can fulfill his electoral duty at any polling station on the territory of Syria. This applies only to the presidential elections, in the parliamentary elections everyone votes in the constituency he lives in,” Kozaev said.

Deputy Speaker of the RSO Parliament Vladimir Kelekhsaev also drew attention to the positive attitude of citizens during the elections.

“People are going to vote as if it’s a holiday, it’s impressive. I would like to wish them to make the right choice so that they elect a worthy candidate for the presidency and their life would be the way they want it to be,” Kelekhsaev emphasized.

It should be noted that the South Ossetian delegation in Syria has also included the State Adviser to President of South Ossetia Uruzmag Dzhagaev, the Head of the Protocol of the Presidential Executive Office of the Republic Tadioz Kochiev and the Head of the Translation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Tadtaev.
