South Ossetia took part in the memorial events in Belarus

A delegation of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry headed by Minister Akhsar Dzhioev took part in the events dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People in Brest, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.

"On this day, Belarus remembers those who, at the cost of their lives, fulfilled their duty to defend the Motherland, remembers all those who died at the hands of the Nazis and died in the rear from hunger and deprivation," the Foreign Ministry has noted.

Akhsar Dzhioyev visited the memorial complex "Brest Hero Fortress", where a patriotic requiem rally "4 years of a long journey ..." was held.

"Famous Russian and Belarusian performers performed on stage: Lyube, Zara, Denis Maidanov and other artists.

The delegation also attended a military-historical reconstruction on the territory of the Brest Fortress,” the statement of the press service reads.

On the eve of the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the “Memory Train” arrived from Moscow to the Brest railway station.

The day before, at the Northern Gate of the Brest Hero Fortress Museum Complex, a ceremony was held to open a memorial sign dedicated to the Soviet border guards.

The participants in the event were schoolchildren from the former USSR, including South Ossetia.
